Northern California Beagle Rescue
Beagles Available for Adoption

California - Bay Area Nov 15
30 RESEARCH BEAGLES ARE COMING!!!

In early December we will be getting 15 females and 15 males all under 2 years of age. These precious pups have been raised and maintained in indoor kennel runs and are not familiar with the outside world . Although they have lived a sheltered life for their first two years, they are like a completely new dog and need to be acclimated to a home environment. However with training and lots of love, they can end up becoming the most wonderful pets and addition to families. The dogs are surgically de-barked while under general anesthesia by the breeder. This means that the dogs will have a hoarse sound when they bark. This is not uncomfortable to the dogs and requires no medical treatment.

Requirements for adoption: A stay at home parent or a family with a flexible schedule AND another dog to learn from. They are good with cats and children. They will need to be leash trained as they have never been on a walk. They will also need to be house broken; crate training will certainly come in use during this time.

Please contact Elizabeth for more information on adopting a research beagle and please fill out the online adoption application to be considered. The adoption fee for the research beagles will be $250.00.

We wanted to let all of you know that Carly’s surgery to remove her front leg was a success and that she has recovered completely. Today was her first adventure to the dog park and we wanted to share these pictures with you. Suzy describes Carly as one of the sweetest and best behaved beagles that she has ever met and we hope that you enjoy these pictures of Carly.
She sure is a beautiful beagle.

Carly’s Story

Hi, Everyone. My name is Carly. I'm 9 years old and am slightly chubby, but that isn't my biggest problem. I came into rescue with a twisted and useless front leg. This was from an old injury that was left untreated. The leg stuck out at an odd angle from my plump body. I couldn't move it at all. I couldn't move any of the joints in that leg. Sometimes when I walked by something, the leg would get tangled up in whatever I was walking by. I did have enough sense to just stand still, so I didn't hurt myself, but it was just a matter of time before I did hurt myself.

Mommy took me to the doctor and was told that the leg had to go. Since I'm an older girl, Mommy was a little afraid of the surgery. Also, she had never fostered a dog with an amputation before, so she was worried about how to care for me during my recovery, but she knew the doctor was right, and I had the surgery. When Mommy saw me right after the surgery, she said it was very hard to look at me with my huge incision. Even when I was in so much pain, I wagged my tail for her. She needed to see the tail wagging to know that she'd done right by me.

Mommy tells me that I am absolutely the best-behaved beagle she has ever seen, and she has seen a bunch of us. I never bark. I wag my tail so much that the whole back end of me wags. I've been through a lot, but I'm happy all the time. I don't have any of the behavior issues that so many beagles have. I'm even a better girl than Mommy's own beagles. She says that's an embarrassment to her.

I'm still in a lot of pain, but I'm getting better every day. I didn't even have to learn how to walk on three legs because I'd been doing that for a long time anyway. The surgery was very expensive, but there was no choice. It just had to be done. Now Beagle Rescue has to pay for it. I'm writing to you today asking you good people to help with the expense even if all you can give is a small amount. I might be a beagle, but I overhear Mommy talking and understand how difficult it is to make ends meet in this economy. Beagle Rescue is having the same problem, but if enough people pitch in to help, together you can make a huge difference, and you will always have my gratitude. If you can help, I will perform my one trick for you, which is rolling over. I'm almost well enough to do that again.

If you would like to check in on me and see how I am doing please email my foster mom Suzy.

FOSTER HOMES DESPERATELY NEEDED!!!
Age: none
Sex: male
neutered

You may have noticed that our adoptions are up. We have been able to find loving homes for so many of the dogs that we've rescued. In fact, many times there are so many applications for a single dog that it's difficult to choose the most ideal home.

The first step in rescuing these deserving dogs is to have foster homes where they can stay until the perfect adoptive home is found for them. We are contacted daily by many shelters in the area begging us to take a dog whose time has run out. Our ability to do this depends on our having a foster home available. So many of them have to be let go because of our lack of foster homes. You've seen many of the beautiful dogs on this site. There are many others that we've had to turn down because we have nowhere to house them.

We have a wonderful family of foster moms and dads ready to lend you support when needed, there just aren't enough of us for the number of dogs who need our help. Please find it in your heart to open your home to a dog in need. This selfless act can be one of the most gratifying things you'll ever do.

If you have room in your heart and in your home for one more, please contact Eva...

Belle - (ADOPTION PENDING)
Age: 15 months
Sex: female
spayed

Belle is a gorgeous and active 15 month old, tri-color beagle girl. She had been primarily living outside but is now learning what it means to be an inside family dog. She is currently in a foster home and is learning potty-training and basic obedience. She is very smart and is responding well to training.

Belle's disposition is excellent - she takes food from your hand gently and is extremely playful. She is happy and doesn’t have any temperament problems. The highlight of her day is that she is now part of a family and is getting the human interaction and attention she craves. She has not had much experience walking on a leash but seems willing to please and would do well with consistency.

The ideal home for Belle would be one where there is someone at home for most of the day and possibly another canine playmate for her. She does well with other dogs and would love nothing more than to play and chase for hours on end. She would be best suited with a dog a little larger than her as she likes to play rough and does show some signs that she would like to be top dog when with smaller dogs. This person or family will have had some experience in dog ownership and training (preferably beagle expreience) so that they can be successful in continuing her training.

Belle's adoption fee will be $300, plus she will require a $100 training deposit that will be refunded after a puppy training program has been completed.

Please contact Michael for more information about sweet Belle.

Coffee's New Flyer - Meet Coffee at our Special Holiday Photo Donation Drive on December 5th

Update - Coffee has arrived in the U.S.!

Coffee is now living in San Jose with his foster mum and his foster brother and sister. He loves going for walks in the morning with his pack and strolling round the garden on his wheels. He enjoys playing with his foster sister and his favorite toy is his nylabone chewbone. His foster mum reports that helping Coffee go to the bathroom is easier than she thought it would be, but it would even easier if Coffee would stand still - he just wants to give kisses and sniff the grass!

Coffee was paralyzed probably due to being hit by a car and sent to a shelter in northern Taiwan last September. Two animal lovers in Taiwan heard this news from the Internet and decided to take him away from the danger of euthanasia. They also found that his vocal cord had been cut so he cannot bark as loudly as a normal dog.

Coffee's rescuers sought the best medical treatment for him. He stayed in the hospital where he was treated for decubitus ulcers (pressure sores) and skin lichen. His skin is fully recovered now having received far infrared irradiation and rehabilitation treatment, including acupuncture therapy. He is now able to stand for 1-2 minutes at a time and can prop up his lower limbs while dragging his body for movement, which will help lower the chance of him developing any further decubitus ulcers. He is in great physical condition, having had all his vaccinations and he now weighs over 30lb (14kg).

Coffee is very energetic. Though he can run as fast as a beagle with four working legs while on his cart, he does need some extra attention. He needs help to be put on his cart for 30 to 60 minutes a few times a day. He is housebroken but with his paralysis needs to be taken outside about 4 times a day and needs some assistance to go to the bathroom.

Coffee is expecting a family who is willing to wholeheartedly accept his paralysis, bathroom assistance and possible occasional decubitus ulcer, and can offer him a yard where he can run and explore on his cart. Coffee is nice and friendly to everyone. Though he cannot bark normally as other dogs, he is very enthusiastic about guarding his home. He is smart and learns good manners fast with only very preliminary training. He is a bit naughty but knows when to stop as long as instructions are given in time.

Please fill out the Online Adoption Application. Thank you.

Arnold
Age: 8 yrs. old
Sex: male
neutered

Hi, New Friends. My name is Arnold, and I'm one of the biggest beagles you'll ever see. I came into rescue weighing 70 pounds. I'm as active as a 70-pound beagle can possibly be. Mommy calls me her Gentle Giant because I'm such a sweet boy. I'm about 8 years old. I don't have any serious health issues other than I'm very obese. I'm very lucky that the Beagle Rescue people found me before those health issues developed.

I arrived weighing 70 pounds. A couple weeks after arriving I went to the doctor and weighed 70.8 pounds. Right away Mommy knew there was a problem because I was put on a diet the minute I arrived here. She requested the doctor run a thyroid test. That was done, and sure enough, I'm low thyroid. I'm now on those little pills, so the weight will come off quickly.

I'm a gentle boy looking for a loving family who will help me to diet. I'll ask you for more food than I should have, but you must be strong and just give me what I need, nothing more than that. I need to lose half my body weight, and I can't do that without your help.

In return I'll give you all the love and devotion I have in my heart. My heart is as large as the rest of me and is filled with longing for a family to call my own. If you are looking for a gentle beagle with no bad habits, please contact my foster mom, Suzy, to learn more about me.

Simon & Brock
Age: 2 yrs. old
Sex: male
neutered

We have just received 2 former medical research beagles that are in need of a loving forever home.

Simon  (ADOPTION PENDING!!!)

Simon is a 5 year old, handsome, very busy beagle boy. His best buddy was Marvin, who went to rescue earlier this year. Simon is generally very good with other dogs - in fact, many times he's the only dog that will peacefully co-exist with some of the other lab dogs. He is a strapping and handsome boy full of energy. He will need a home that will be able to give him lots of exercise. He has been debarked, but still has a good voice. We've found that he enjoys the company of people and very much likes other dogs.

Brock

Brock, aka Broccoli, is also a strapping beagle boy full of curiosity and energy. He has been debarked, and can only make high-pitched noises. Brock is a sweet boy who is already starting to play. He has a scar on his side which we don't know where it came from (he had it before he came to the medical facility). It is believed that he was born with a hole in is skin that had to be stitched up. It does not bother him.

Both of these guys will need some work in the area of potty training. Simon seems to not mind being in the crate where Brock protests by scratching on it. Foster mom is going to work on getting Brock crate trained. They both have adorable beagle faces and were so busy exploring the grass for the first time, they wouldn't stand still to be photographed!

If you are interested in either Simon or Brock - please contact Sue at or complete our online application.

Sofia
Age: 10 months
Sex: female
spayed

Sofia is a very sweet and active 10 month-old, tri-color petite 13” beagle girl. She is crate-trained and mostly house-trained but still has a little more potty training to learn as well as basic obedience. She is very smart and is responding well to training. Sofia is spayed and up-to-date on all her shots.

Sofia 's disposition is excellent - she is a very happy and extremely playful puppy girl. She gets along well with children and cats and would love to have another doggie companion to play with as she does well with other dogs and would love nothing more than to play and chase for hours on end.

Sofia came from a loving family that had her since she was 8 weeks old but had to surrender her since their financial situation changed and had to move into a very small apartment. She was loved very much. The new adopting family would be required to have some experience in dog ownership and training (preferably beagle experience) so that they can be successful in continuing her training.

Sofia 's adoption fee will be $300, plus she will require a $100 training deposit that will be refunded after a puppy training program has been completed.

Holly
Age: 5 yrs. old
Sex: male
neutered

Holly is a very handsome male 5 yr old beagle. He is very energetic and never sits still for a moment. He loves to chase and play with other dogs and people, once he trusts them. He is very submissive to his owners, but will try for dominance even with larger dogs. He is easily threatened by aggressive behavior by people and other animals and needs a calm, caring environment with plenty of reassurance. He would be most comfortable in a household without young children.

His playful nature really shines through when introduced to toys. He is very loving, will lick your hands and stand up on his hind legs to beg for treats. He knows the commands "sit", "come here" and "go outside", though he really only sits if offered a treat.

Jack
Age: 1.5 yrs
Sex: male

Jack is a playful young beagle who loves to play with the other beagles in his foster home. After a good romp he will curl up with his best beagle friend Tinker for a nap. Jack likes to run, play, and enjoys a lot of exercise. Jack loves attention and will cuddle with his foster mom when done playing. Jack does not like cats and will give chase at a moments notice and has also been known to give chase to small dogs too. So, a home without cats or small fluffy dogs is a must for dear Jack. Jack would do best in a home with a family who is active and has another dog for his companionship. Also, given Jack’s activity level a home without small children would be best as he might accidentally knock a small child dog when he is running. Jack is a great little beagle and is ready for his forever home! Please contact Eva to learn more about Jack.

Ruffy
Age: 11 yrs
Sex: male
neutered

Hi, my name is Ruffy. I am a 15”, long, slender, 30 lb., tri-color beagle boy. I settled in quickly at my foster home and get along well with the other dogs. I immediately learned to use the doggy door, am housebroken, crate trained, leash trained, and have no destructive behaviors. I am healthy; however, I do take thyroid meds.

I love going for walks and am friendly to the people and dogs I meet along the way, I am also good around my foster mom’s six-year old grandson. I am a sweet, mellow, loving, happy dog—my tail is always wagging. I ride well in the car. I love lying next to my foster mom’s feet or sleeping next to her bed. If you’re looking for companionship, I’m your guy as I prefer being in close proximity to my family.

I am neutered and current on my shots. I don’t chase the ducks or squirrels in the back yard, so it’s a safe bet that I’d be great around kitties. I love being petted and having my ears and tummy rubbed. I will be happiest in a home with either a stay-at-home person or someone with a flexible schedule. Although I would like a canine companion, a home in which I am the only dog is okay too.

If you would like to open your heart and home to me, please complete an Online Adoption Application. If you would like more information on me, please contact my foster mom, Elaine.

Mitchell
Age: 5 yrs
Sex: male
neutered

Hi, Everyone. My name is Mitchell. I'm a dachshund in need, so the Beagle Rescue people helped me. Does that make sense to you?

Mommy says I'm a wonderful boy because I fit in here so quickly, and I don't cause any trouble. I'll be 5 years old in December, and I weigh 15.7 pounds. Like most dachshunds, I love to be in your lap. I'm completely potty trained, and I don't mark my territory like some male dogs will do. Mommy likes me a lot because of that. I also don't bark unless there is really something to bark at. Some of the dachshunds here (and the beagles) will bark just because they like to hear the sound of their own voices.

My only negative is I have allergies. I'm on a lamb and rice diet, which I like very much. It isn't a sacrifice for me to eat lamb and rice. It's yummy. These allergies have caused me to lose hair here and there. It isn't like I'm bald. You have to look for the missing places, but they are there. The doctor said I might do better if I found a home in the Bay Area because there is less there to be allergic to. Even though I have allergies, I don't scratch myself. Scratching is another thing that drives Mommy crazy, so I just don't do it.

I'm a very good boy and have so much love to give to my person. If you can find it in your heart to love to back, please contact my foster mom, Suzy, to learn more about me.

Delilah (Daphne)
Age: 2.5 yrs
Sex: female
spayed

Delilah will succeed and blossom in a household with dog loving adults who are familiar with the breed and aware of the famous Beagle bay. Having another dog buddy may make the transition easier for her but it may depend on the disposition of the other dog as well. Please, no small children under 10 years old or cats to be present in the household. She is a free spirit who likes to explore the outside world so protecting the front door at ALL times is a must. She is obsessed with door bells and people knocking on the door so be prepared for her very exuberant bays when that happens. (The TV doorbells and knocking fool her every time too!)

She is crate trained for overnight sleeping. She would much rather snuggle up in your bed though to sleep the night away! She is house broken and she can be trusted with overnight sleeping in our room. She will look for your protection if scared or spooked. She loves to sleep right next to people on the couch if invited up. Delilah also loves to play with tennis balls and will always perk up if told “get the ball” or by just simply seeing the ball.

Delilah can be a bit “blustery” in her vocals as in when she is trying to dig into a yummy full trash can, and she is caught, she will growl but she has never snapped or gone further then a “grrr” growl in protest. She loves to hang around the kitchen while dinner is being prepared to catch anything that flies off the counter. She is tall enough to reach the edge of the table so watching her when food is present is a very good idea. And when she doesn’t like your idea of her “moving on” she will give her trademark “Grrr” in protest. Nothing more then that and I tell her each time that she is not the alpha in my foster pack!! Funny little beagle girl who loves to eat has been on a diet for a few months and is getting back to her svelte figure! Please think about adopting Ms. “D.D” Delilah!!

Peanut
Age: 10 years
Sex: female
spayed

Do not be fooled by her age! Peanut is full of life and energy. She runs circles around her younger foster 'sister' beagle! She has a clean bill of health with no known concerns. If you are looking for a true companion - look no further! Peanut loves to be with a human at every possible moment.

She is so lovable (in a non- demanding way) that you just won't believe it. She goes from room to room with us, snoozing throughout the day but always on alert for any noise or possible intruder - mailman or squirrel! She is definitely not an excessive barker saving up for just the important stuff.

Peanut is a lightweight weighing in around 20 pounds - just the perfect size and weight for most laps - and she will be happy to oblige you if she is invited. She loves to go in the car. She takes her 'rightful' place in the front seat or on the lap of whoever is in the front seat. She is not a hang her head out the window type. Just sits regally in the front as if you are the hired chauffeur. She waits patiently for you to run your quick errands before heading back behaving perfectly during the ride, never barking at other people or dogs.

Peanut is well behaved, house trained, will sit and stay. She is excellent on walks and does not pull or misbehave when she sees another dog. She also comes when her name is called - always. It would be hard to find a sweeter, more loving and dedicated companion. Peanut is great with children or older adults. She does not seem to care about other dogs making it ok to be an only dog or having dog siblings is fine too. She would be happiest in a home where people are around, not where she is left all day alone. Work at home folks, stay at home parent/family or retired people would be ideal.

Please contact Cynthia if you would like more information about this precious beagle.

Patrick and Jordache are two rascally, loveable knuckleheads that are three-years old, born April 2006. They are Beagle / Border Collie mix. Patrick is 57 lbs. and Jordache is 42 lbs. I lost my part-time job of 29 years and I am looking for new employment that will hopefully be full-time. If I secure full-time employment I won't be able to care for my puppies as they should be. Their shots are up-to-date (two more years on the rabies vaccine), have been on heartworm meds regularly, have been neutered and are registered in San Jose. They each eat one cup of kibble twice a day. They love chew bones. Jordache also loves toys that she can rip open and pull out the stuffing. Patrick is not a toy kinda guy though he will occasionally play with one. Neither is into fetching balls or Frisbees. When my husband and I take them to the park we will go to different ends and take turns calling them. They love to race back and forth between us.

They are very affectionate - demanding even - and like to vie for my attention any time it looks like I have a free hand (hands were made for petting, weren't they?). They play well together. Jordache is the more dominant dog in everything but eating when she waits till her brother has finished. I need to stand by her to make sure she will start eating so that she doesn't follow me around the house and Patrick take advantage of a meal windfall. They are really great dogs and I hate giving them up but must do what's best for them. They need a home that has someone at home all day long. If there are children in the house, one with older children would be best as they are very rambunctious and would end up accidentally hurting smaller children. They have decent manners but they are jumpers. I've been using some of the techniques learned on Victoria Stillwell's "Its Me Or The Dog" show, so they respond well to a sharp "Ah Ah". They sit on command, will lie on command (with a little less enthusiasm) and will sometimes stay. They come when called. At night when it's time to kennel them all you have to do is say, "It's time for bed" and they will head right for their kennels. When I have to leave the house and kennel them I tell them, "Time to go inside now" and they will head for their kennels.

Jordache has the brown and white face, Patrick the black, brown and white one.

Mary
Age: 6 – 7 Years Old
Sex: female
spayed

Hi, Everyone. I've been around awhile, and I'm now finally well enough to go on the web site so everyone can see me. Mommy tells me that I'm beautiful. I have to take her word for it because I can't see myself. I'm blind.

Those of you who can see can tell by my pictures that I'm a dachshund, not a beagle. I'm a standard dachshund and weigh 18 pounds. I'm 6 - 7 years old. I'm the longest and lowest dog you've ever seen.

If you think I have a sad look on my face, let me tell you some of the things that have happened to me. When I came here I had numerous lacerations and bruises on my abdomen. They were infected and swollen. Mommy said it looked like I'd been involved with some farm equipment. I wish I could tell her what happened to me, but I don't know how. She took me to the doctor. Antibiotics took care of the infection and the swelling disappeared. She thought I was a fat dog, but once the swelling went down, I wasn't fat at all. I'd had yet another litter of puppies days before I arrived here and was still lactating. I also don't know how to tell her what happened to my babies, but they are gone. I had long, very straight gashes on my back that looked like they were put there with a sword. I was a mess.

We had to wait for the lactating to stop before I could be spayed. That took a long time but finally happened. At the same time I was spayed, I had mammary tumors removed, which turned out to be benign. If dogs aren't spayed at a young age and are allowed to have litter after litter of puppies like I did, mammary tumors are very common. That's why you should always have your girls spayed early.

My blindness is caused by SARDS, Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome. The two breeds this is most common in are dachshunds and schnauzers. There is no known cause and no known cure. We usually lose our vision within a matter of days or weeks.

You can't imagine the life of neglect I led, and then I went blind besides. I should be angry at the world, but I'm a very happy girl who feels she now has a lot to live for. Mommy tells me that there will be a very kind person who will want to adopt a blind dog like me. She fostered another blind dog who went to a wonderful home with wonderful people. I want to follow in his paw prints. I love to walk on a leash. I just need a seeing eye person to make sure I don't run into a tree. Even though I'm blind, I'm not at all afraid, even when I would be wiser to be afraid and more cautious. I have a very healthy appetite, and I'm potty trained. I've never had an accident in the house. I even like to chase tennis balls. You'd be surprised what a blind dog can learn to do.

I can be adopted into a home where there is another dog if that dog is not aggressive. I'll have to be introduced very slowly. I can't be around cats, though. I've never met a cat I liked. Small children would also not be a good idea.

If you adopt me, I'll love you forever. I will never be able to see you, but I will know how beautiful you are. To learn more about me, please contact my foster mom, Suzy.

Tinker (ADOPTION PENDING)
Age: 10 months
Sex: female
spayed

Hi, my name is Tinker, well really was Taylor but since that is a boys name and I am very much a Lady, my Dad changed my name to Tinker as in Tinker Bell. My first family when they got me did not realize that they could only have three dogs not four per county regulations and so they had to give me up and I went to live with Dad. He was great to live with and I loved going out on his boat, but he discovered that I did not like to be left alone loose in a house and that I feel more comfortable being locked in a crate whenever he had to leave the house. Unfortunately, my Dad was offered an unexpected job working on a big boat and will be gone for a long time. Since I had already been through so much in my ten months of life, my Dad gave me up to beagle rescue so I could find my forever family.

I love to play with dogs, I do not chase cats unless they run from me, I like to go for walks on a leash, I am a little shy but once I get to know you I am a love bug. My foster mom calls me her little Princess. Since I am still very much a big puppy, I like to chew on things like socks and straw hats, instead of a doggy toy. I am working very hard to learn what I can and cannot chew. I would love a family who will give me all the attention and love I deserve and in return, they will receive back twice that from me. Please contact my buddy Eva if you would like to meet me!

Tinker’s adoption fee is $300.00 and there is also a $100.00 refundable training deposit required.

Daisy is a sweet, delicate and feisty little girl. She loves to sit in laps, cuddle, and play. Tail is always wagging. She has very fine fur so she's not much of a shedder. She has a gentle nature to her and clearly was well taken care of before she came to rescue. She will make a great companion to pretty much anyone. She gets along with other dogs just fine, does not bark or howl. She's easy on a leash and her foster mom and dad think that she is the BEST! Daisy also likes to sleep in her own bed at night and her foster parents say that she is a joy to foster. Please contact Eva if you would like more information about Daisy.

Brandie
Age: 8 yrs

Brandie’s Story

Brandie was surrendered to a shelter located many hours from us after her family no longer wanted her. As the days passed she became more and more depressed as the realization sunk in that no one was coming; not her family that took her to the shelter or a new family to adopt her. A kind shelter volunteer posted information wide and far about Brandie’s situation and a Good Samaritan in Virginia read her story and contacted the shelter to make arrangements to rescue Brandie. Through her efforts Brandie was taken into a volunteer’s home until we could make the long distance arrangements to have Brandie come our way. Brandie was located 10 hours away from our rescue. Thankfully, through the kindness of many, Brandie made the trip north and is now in her foster home and is doing very well.

Brandie is a very sweet beagle and she has a wonderful disposition and temperament. She will be a loving and loyal companion and is ready for a family to take good care of her by spoiling her with love and kindness. Please contact Eva if you would like to learn more about Brandie.

Roxy
Age: 4-6 yrs
Sex: female
spayed

Hi, Everyone. My name is Roxy. As you can, I'm a dachshund, not a beagle. Have you noticed that the dachshund population here is increasing? The Beagle Rescue people took me in because I was a needy case.

I'm another blind dachshund. I lost one eye due to glaucoma. I'm blind in the other eye due to a large cataract. Sometimes Mommy thinks I can see a little bit out of that eye, but she isn't sure. The shelter said I'm 4 years old, and the doctor agreed. Mommy thinks I'm a little older, so she's going to list me as 4 - 6 years old. Others thought I was only 4 because my teeth are in excellent shape, which is very unusual for a neglected dachshund such as I.

Mommy says I'm as close to having a human baby as a person can get without going into labor. I'm a very spoiled girl here in my foster home. I'm looking for a permanent home where I'll continue to be spoiled. I like eating from a dish and spoon. You hold the spoon. I love being in your lap all the time. All dachshunds are lap dogs, but I'm even more of a lap dog than most. Since I'm blind, I need someone who will protect me.

In return, I have a heart full of gratitude and love to give to you. Adopting me isn't for everyone. You have to want a very dependent girl who will want to be with you all the time and be able to accept total devotion from me. If you're looking for the kind of closeness I have to offer, please contact my foster mom, Suzy, to learn more about me.

Owner Assisted Placement

Tobie is a cute black, white and tan Beagle. She has been raised around horses, geese, dogs and cats. She is gentle and likes attention, especially a belly rub! She is healthy and has had routine veterinary care. Tobie is trained to a leash and has never been in a crate or kennel. She enjoys the run of the house and yard because of a doggie door. She likes car rides and playing with her Rat Terrier buddy. Tobie has not had a lot of contact or experience with small children but has a good temperament and loves it when friends stop by!

After losing his wife, her owner has struggled to keep up with his regular job, ranch work and animal care. He sold the ranch and is moving into an apartment. He is looking for a home that can give her room to play and the attention she needs. See photos, she is so nice looking!

Snickers
Age: 14 yrs
Sex: female
spayed

Please welcome Miss Snickers. She is a petite lady and has beautiful brown eyes. She is truly a cute little 13" beagle girl.

Snickers was left at the shelter by her owner with another younger beagle who had been her life companion. The other beagle was adopted from the shelter and Snickers' time had run out so she was rescued by a Beagle Rescue angel. Snickers was so sad at first because she had been separated from her companion but now that she is in her foster home with other beagles - she is so much happier. She comes when you call and likes to nuzzle up to you and get her belly rubbed.

Snickers is fully house trained, is very calm, gets along great with the other dogs, and is happy just poking around the back yard and sleeping in her newly claimed dog bed. She also uses the dog door. Snickers is not the fastest dog but when the others run after the squirrels in the yard, she tags along and she too tries to catch them. She likes to watch the other dogs play and makes a good spectator.

Snickers just got a clean bill of health from the vet and has just had her teeth cleaned. You may not need Snickers - as she is quiet and not as playful as most beagles – but Snickers is a Senior beagle who needs you. If you desire just to give a precious senior dog a safe and happy place where she can live out the rest of her senior years, please consider opening your home to Snickers.

If you are interested in possibly adding Snickers to your family - please contact Sue.

David
Age: 7 - 8 yrs.
Sex: male
neutered

Hi, Everyone. My name is David, but most of the time I'm called Davie. You'll be calling me by both names because I have a split personality. I am the perfectly behaved dog here in my foster home. I'm never any trouble. I always go potty outside. I don't bark a lot. I'm just a very good boy.

When you take me out in public I turn into David the Maniac. Put me on a leash, and I'll tug as hard as I can. I'm a big boy, so I can pull you along faster than you'll ever want to go. I'll bark at everything I see and even at some things I can't see and can only imagine. You'll scream DAVID as loudly as you can, and I won't even care. In the car you'll have to put me in a crate because I'll be all over the place. I have to be contained for safety purposes, Mommy says. Take me back home and I become mild-mannered Davie again.

Like I said, I'm a big boy. I weighed almost 54 pounds at the shelter. I'm now on a diet and am losing weight. I'm not a thyroid dog like many of the overweight beagles here, I've just been overfed. I'm on low-calorie food and am losing the weight very quickly even without a lot of exercise. Mommy prefers Davie to David, so we don't go for a lot of walks.

I'm 7 - 8 years old so am content to stay at home with just a secure backyard to roam around in. I'm like all beagles and love to explore. I'll be Davie while in the yard. Adopting me would be like adopting two dogs. You'll have the good Davie at home, and when you feel the need for more excitement in your life, you can take David for a walk. I'm good with other dogs and I ignore cats, unless we're out walking, of course. Then I ignore nothing.

If you feel you can provide a safe and loving home for a boy with a split personality, please contact my foster mom, Suzy. She can tell you a lot more about both of me.

AJ aka Beagan
Age: 6 yrs. old
Sex: male
neutered

Hi, Friends, I'm back in rescue after my owner died unexpectedly and I was left all alone. Fortunately the good kind people at Beagle Rescue came and got me and now I am in a foster home with two other beagles. My name is now Beagan but I was known as AJ when I was in rescue the first time. I answer to Beagan now and please speak loudly as I hear well when a loud voice is used.

I'm a beautiful beagle boy six years old. What that means is I don't have the crazy puppy habits, yet I'm old enough to have lots of energy, and I have many, many years to devote to my new people. My foster mom says that I'm real easy to have around. I don't cause much trouble at all unless you have socks lying around. I love to chew on socks, that’s one of my bad habits but if you give me a Kong this will help me forget about the socks and how much fun they are to chew on.

As you can see by my pictures, I'm a very handsome boy. I have lighter eyes than a lot of beagles, and they are very expressive. I have my own unique appearance that the ladies seem to love. I'm more of a chocolate-colored beagle than most, and I'm as sweet as chocolate, too.

I get along great with other dogs and would really like to have a home with a doggy pal or two. I'm curious about cats and when given the opportunity will chase them. Perhaps a home without cats would be best for me. I would also do best in a home with older children as small children make me kind of nervous especially when they try and hug me.

What I have to offer you is total love and devotion for the rest of my life Although I miss my first owner very much I have a lot of love to give and would very much like a family of my own. I'm an affectionate, calm, and very gentle dog. My foster mom can't believe how lucky she was when I moved in here, but she knows I'll have to move on to make room for another. That's how this system works. If you think you can help me by providing a good home and by accepting my love and devotion, please contact my friend Eva.
